Guilty plea in Katrina price fixing

( December 1, 2011) -- George Gonzalez, former chief commercial officer of Cielos Airlines, a Peruvian air cargo carrier, pleaded guilty Nov. 30 in the Southern District of Florida to participating in a conspiracy to fix prices in violation of the Sherman Act, a violation which carries a maximum $1 million fine and up to 10 years in prison. The maximum fine may be increased to twice the gain derived from the crime or twice the loss suffered by the victims of the crime, if either of those amounts is greater than the statutory maximum fine....
