Macmillan settles in e-book case

( February 14, 2013) -- The Justice Department recently racked up another victory in its sweeping lawsuit that charges five publishers and Apple Inc. with conspiring to jack up e-book prices to consumers. Holtzbrinck Publishers LLC, which does business as Macmillan, threw in the towel and agreed to settle with the Department, following similar settlements struck by the other four publishers–––Hachette Book Group Inc., HarperCollins Publishers L.L.C., Penguin Group (USA) Inc. and Simon & Schuster Inc. Apple continues to litigate. Its trial is set to begin in June....
